Jack Redfern joined the firm in 1990 and became a partner in 1997.
Jack’s primary focus is on the development and management of local and global patent portfolios for enforcement, licensing and strategic commercial positioning. He works closely with inventors, managers and principals both individually and collectively to develop and implement their patent strategies and ensure that those strategies are integrated with the overall business plan of the organisation.
Prior to joining Shelston IP, Jack worked with Australia’s leading government defense research organisation, the Defense Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO), to develop an automated test station for infrared detectors for use in night vision systems. Although this work was primarily concerned with producing software controls, it also involved hardware configuration and interfacing. He has also had experience with an electrical distribution authority, working on major projects such as the testing and modification of frequency injection equipment.
Jack deals with a broad range of inventions in the electrical and electro-mechanical fields on a day-to-day basis. His specialties include software related inventions process control, integrated circuits and electronic components.
When time allows, Jack indulges in the delicate and subtle art of motor racing.
