Sean became a partner in Shelston IP in 2000 and heads the firm’s Trade Marks and Brands Team. He is a solicitor and registered trade marks attorney, with qualifications both in science and law. Sean initially joined the firm in 1988. In 1991 he left to further his career in the United Kingdom. He returned to intellectual property practice in Australia and subsequently rejoined the firm in 1997.
Sean has extensive experience in a broad range of trade mark and brand management matters and a large part of his work involves the resolution of trade mark disputes and the enforcement of intellectual property rights.
Sean is highly experienced in the handling of inter-partes trade mark oppositions and brand disputes. He assists clients in policing infringements, including border protection and marketplace policing programmes. He also conducts availability searching for a wide range of multi-national businesses, handles prosecution work and provides strategic advice relating to use, protection and management of brand portfolios, including domain names.
Sean enjoys watching rugby, a game he played for many years, playing golf and spending time with his family.
