Russell Davies has worked in the patent profession since 1991 and has been a patent specialist with Shelston IP since 1997. He joined the partnership in 2004 and heads the firm’s Mechanical Engineering team.
Russell has extensive patent and registered design experience, including the drafting of patent specifications, the prosecution of patent and design applications both before the Australian Patent Office and in foreign jurisdictions, as well as the provision of advice with regards to validity and infringement of patent and design rights.
In the field of mechanical engineering, Russell has particular interest and experience in heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, medical devices, optical fibre manufacturing techniques, automotive engineering technology, mining and manufacturing process technology.
Prior to joining the patent profession, Russell worked in the mining industry as a mechanical engineer. During this time he worked both in the engineering design office of a mining company and at a variety of mine sites, acquiring a wide experience in mining engineering and the design of equipment used in this industry.
Russell enjoys motor sports and is a keen cyclist.
