Charles Tansey joined the firm in 1997 and became a partner in 2004. He practises in the patents area, drafting patent specifications, prosecuting Australian and foreign patent applications, handling opposition proceedings, providing validity and infringement opinions as well as providing general patent advice in the chemical field.
Charles holds BSc (Hons) and PhD degrees in organic chemistry from the University of Sydney and spent a number of years as a research scientist prior to joining Shelston IP. His technical expertise includes organic synthesis and experimental methods, including stereoselective synthesis, amino acid and peptide chemistry, membrane chemistry and the chemistry of natural ion channels, porphyrin and phthalocyanine chemistry.
Charles enjoys woodworking, films and reading.
