Chris Bevitt is a partner of Shelston IP Lawyers and heads the commercial law team. He combines a strong intellectual property focus with the knowledge and experience gained from over 18 years of practise in commercial law.
In the commercial law area Chris advises on a broad range of contractual and transactional matters including acquisitions and disposals of businesses and shares, company structuring, shareholders agreements, advertising and sponsorship contracts, trading terms and conditions and other commercial contracts. In the IP commercialisation area, he can assist with joint ventures, licensing agreements, supply and distribution agreements and manufacturing agreements.
Chris has a particular interest in all aspects of information technology and communications law including software development, licensing and maintenance, outsourcing (IT and BPO), telecommunications contracts, ASP arrangements, e-commerce and Government Information Technology Conditions and privacy law.
Chris is admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court in New South Wales and also of the High Court. In addition, he is a registered Trade Mark Attorney. Chris has advised extensively on trade mark protection and registration.
Plain language drafting is a keen interest for Chris. He has prepared a comprehensive plain language training manual and has run many training courses in using plain language.
When he is not in the office, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children, practising Spanish, swimming, reading and bushwalking.
