Matthew Ward joined Shelston IP in 2004 and practises in the field of electrical and information technology related patents.  He is a registered Patent Attorney, and has been admitted as a legal practitioner before the Supreme Court of NSW.

Matthew views intellectual property as a business tool for providing competitive advantage.  In an era of business regulation and competition laws, a business must take full advantage of any available monopoly rights.  As a result, the efficient management of intellectual property is an essential part of business success.

Matthew has been particularly involved in drafting patent applications in the fields of information management systems, RFID technology, business methods, database systems, software, and gaming.

Matt enjoys outdoor activities, including snowboarding, mountain biking and surfing.
