designTECH 2005

The 2005 designTECH Exhibition was launched on 5 December by the Minister for Education and Training, the Honourable Carmel Tebbutt MP.  Shelston IP was proud to sponsor the Shelston IP Prize in 2005, a special award presented to one of this year's 24 student exhibitors to recognise the project with the best potential for IP protection and commercialisation. The Prize was presented at the launch of the Exhibition by Peter Treloar, a partner of Shelston IP.

The designTECH Exhibition, organised by The Office of the Board of Studies NSW, is shown at the Powerhouse Museum from December to March annually. The Exhibition showcases the best Major Design Projects completed by HSC Design and Technology students over the preceding academic year.

The winner of the Shelston IP Prize in 2005 was Stephen Walsh of Shoalhaven Anglican School for his "Bush Dragon" portable hot water shower. As an outdoor enthusiast, Stephen identified an opportunity to design and produce a hot water shower for camping.  He engineered a hot water system that converts chemical energy into heat energy, which is transferred to a water supply to produce hot water quickly and efficiently.

Through involvement in activities such as designTECH, Shelston IP builds awareness, at all levels, of the importance of IP in not only protecting a client's IP, but also in creating from that IP, real assets that can be commercialised to create real market value ... moving IP from mind to market.
