The Future Materials Awards gala presentation dinner was held at the Sofitel Brisbane on 17 May 2006.
Shelston IP was a Gold sponsor of this inaugural event which recognised companies that had developed products utilising innovative material technologies.
Samantha Kume, respected journalist and local presenter, hosted the event. Speakers included Clint Ramsay, Entrepreneur-in-Residence at UniQuest Pty Ltd and Mr Ross Vastra who represented the Hon Ian Macfarlane MP, Minister for Industry, Tourism and Resources. Our Partner Dr Jacinta Flattery-O'Brien participated in the presentation of awards to the finalists.
The winners were judged from three categories; Biotechnology and Life Sciences; Infrastructure and Building Materials; and Manufactured Goods. Nanocoatings won the Biotechnology category for their new bone graft technology. Coredev won the Infrastructure and building materials category for their light weight pedestrian bridge, and Hydrexia won the manufactured goods category with their hydrogen storage tank.
