CAP-XX Limited is an Australian-based company that develops and manufactures in Sydney and Malaysia thin-form supercapacitors for sale around with world. Supercapacitors are high power density energy storage devices that have application in electronic circuits in a wide variety of products. Examples of such products include, at the lower current end of the spectrum, PCMCIA cards, mobile telephones, and other portable electronic consumer products and, at the high current end of the spectrum, hybrid electric vehicles.
Recently, CAP-XX listed on the AIM Index of the London Stock Exchange. In doing so, additional capital was raised to accelerate the ongoing commercialisation of the supercapacitor technology.
As part of its commercialisation strategy, CAP-XX carefully monitors the development of IP and makes judicious use of the patent and trade mark systems to seek protection for that IP. Shelston IP have worked together with CAP-XX since 1997 to assist in the active management of the company’s IP portfolio, and to advise on the structuring of that portfolio to account for the changing role it has to play as commercialisation progresses.
