Sarah Herbert joined Shelston IP in 2007 and practices in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering. She is currently working towards becoming a registered Australian patent attorney.
Sarah holds a BSc (Hons I) degree in Industrial Chemistry from the University of New South Wales, which was completed on full industry Co-op scholarship. Sarah’s honours thesis focused on the electrochemical oxidation of thin film electrodes for use in medical devices.
Prior to joining Shelston IP, Sarah worked for 7 years in the research department of Siemens Water Technologies (Memcor), a company specialising in the research, development and manufacture of hollow-fibre membrane water treatment systems. Her work focused on the development of membrane formulations, the optimisation of membrane operation and recovery in the field, and the scale-up of prototype products to full manufacture and sale. Sarah was also involved in administration of the Memcor research team's patent portfolio.
In her spare time Sarah enjoys relaxing with family and friends over good food and wine, taking her Belgian shepherd dog for a walk, going to the gym, learning to play the drums and quality time with an interesting book.
