Kieran Williams joined Shelston IP in 2007 and practices in the fields of biotechnology, molecular biology, neurobiology, immunology, pharmaceuticals and stem cells. He is currently working towards becoming a registered Australian patent attorney.
Kieran holds a BSc (Hons) and a PhD from the University of Sydney. His doctoral thesis investigated the role of cholesterol uptake in the development of Alzheimer's disease. Upon completing his PhD, Kieran worked as a Clinical Pharmacology Scientist at GlaxoSmithKline and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney, the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology in Munich and the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. His research has focused on multiple sclerosis, an immune disease of the brain, investigating the causes and progression of the disease, developing novel treatments and repairing the damaged brain using stem cells. Upon returning to Australia Kieran worked as a Patent Examiner at the Australian Patent Office in Canberra.
Kieran is a keen cyclist, sailor and traveller.
