  • Candace is a Registered Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney who specialises in patent prosecution in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and life sciences.

    Candace completed her Ph.D. in Pharmacology at the University of Melbourne and the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health on scholarship. Her doctoral thesis examined the effects of sex steroid hormones on cognitive function in preclinical models of neuropsychiatric disorders. She was awarded for the most highly regarded Ph.D. thesis at the Florey Institute in 2014. She was then recruited by the Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine, as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry. During her postdoctoral research, she developed extensive technical skills in human cell models and whole genome-wide data analysis.

    In addition to science, Candace has an educational background in business. She pursued a Graduate Certificate in Commercialisation at the Melbourne Business School on scholarship which has given her a broad perspective about the implications of science and its translational possibilities.
