  • Overview

    With over 15 years in practice, Katrina utilises a deep base of practical experience in dealing with intellectual property disputes and enforcement, combined with technical legal excellence.

    Katrina acts for international and local clients in Federal Court litigation and before the Australian Patent and Trade Marks Office in contentious matters. She also deals with contentious matters in the New Zealand Intellectual Property Office. She advises on all aspects of intellectual property enforcement including patent and trade mark infringement claims, patent and trade mark oppositions and revocations, copyright and design disputes, misuse of confidential information, anti-piracy and anti-counterfeiting strategies and domain name issues.

    Cases in which she has been involved span a wide range of industries from pharmaceutical products and medical devices to fast moving consumer goods and industrial machinery. In addition, Katrina has significant experience in areas complementary to intellectual property such as advertising and media law, regulatory matters and privacy.

    Katrina has a strong international IP background, having spent many years working in leading intellectual property practices in New Zealand and Ireland. She has acted in a number of multi-jurisdictional IP disputes, and is well accustomed to working as part of an international team of attorneys.

    Katrina is the Partner responsible for our firm’s pro bono efforts.

    • Bachelor of Laws (Honours), University of Canterbury, New Zealand
    • Bachelor of Commerce, University of Canterbury, New Zealand
    • Admitted as Solicitor of the High Court of Australia
    • Admitted as Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales
    • Admitted as Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand
    • Admitted as Irish Solicitor
    • Registered Patent Attorney (Australia and New Zealand).
